'Homenaje a Manzanita. Con piel de manzana'

They say that Manzanita was the first flamenco singer-songwriter. A descendant of historic artists like Manolo Caracol, he started off as a guitarist and ended up becoming a successful performer and composer of songs he gave a flamenco edge to with a magnetic personality. Seven years after he passed away at the age of 48, his son José Ortega heads up a tribute album entitled ‘Con piel de manzana’. Collaborating on the project, bringing his greatest hits back to life, are flamenco figures such as Duquende, Diego Amador, Guadiana, Parrita and Montse Cortés, but also ones of other musical styles like Rosana, David de María and La Mari from Chambao. ‘Verde’ - the rumba with Lorca’s lyrics which closed the film ‘Flamenco’ by Carlos Saura -, ‘Ramito de violetas’, ‘Por tu ausencia’, ‘Tu boca de caramelo’… are part of the repertoire on the album, which will be on sale beginning on May 3rd, 2011. Live, it will be presented by José Ortega, musicians from Chambao and guests at the Sala Santana in Bilbao (May 27th) and at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas (June 3rd).
