Milagros Mengíbar, awarded the Compás del Cante. On April 20th, 2006 in Seville, the Sevillian bailaora received the prize which has been awarded every year since 1984 by Fundación Cruzcampo to a flamenco artist in recognition of his or her career. Recently the bailaora, who defends the Sevillian school of flamenco dancing, also won an award from the Flamencology Institute of Jerez. Pilar López, Mario Maya, Matilde Coral, Farruco, Antonio Gades and Cristina Hoyos are the bailaores who have won the prize from the Sevillian foundation in previous editions.
