Flamenco Viene
del Sur 2008. Rocío
Molina faces primitive flamenco cante in ‘Por el decir
de la gente’. The Málaga-born bailaora
performs at Seville’s Teatro Central on Tuesday, February
19th with a risky show for which she’ll remove the tiers
of seats. With the theater transparent, she will develop this
work which José Luis Ortiz Nuevo helped to conceive.
The novelty of the show lies in “how unusual its musical
accompaniment is and how uncommon the styles are which she dances
and interprets: romances, tonás, lullabies and pregones”.
She is only accompanied by the voices of four cantaores: David
Lagos, Falo, Jesús Méndez and La Tremendita;
Luis Escribano on contrabass, Diego Álvarez ‘El
Negro’ on percussion, Salvador Bocanegra on Gastor hornpipe
and Cayetano Granados on sea shell. ‘Por el decir de la
gente’ joins the repertoire which the young artist is
touring with, which includes creations such as ‘Almario’
and ‘Turquesa como el limón’, besides her
participation in ‘Mujeres’ together with Merche
Esmeralda and Belén Maya.
