Latest-generation flamenco dancing kicks
off the tenth edition of Flamenco Festival New York.
The New York City Center faced up to the snow blanketing the city
with the warm energy given off by young flamenco bailaores. The
show schedule was opened by ‘Todo cambia’ on the night
of Thursday, February 11th, a show which combined a baile suite
by Rocío
Molina and the three-way gala shared between Pastora Galván,
Belén López and Manuel Liñán. The
following night, Rocío Molina took on the starring role
solo. The Málaga-born bailaora confirmed herself before
the New York audience with her latest show, ‘Oro viejo’,
which has already been performed at festivals like Seville’s
Bienal or that of Jerez. From now until February 21st, Flamenco
Festival New York 2010 will offer shows such as ‘Córdoba…
en el tiempo’ by guitarist José Antonio Rodríguez,
cantaora Marina Heredia’s encounter with the Orquesta Chekara
de Tetuán and ‘La edad de oro’ by bailaor Israel
Galván, among others.
