2012 Bankia Flamenco Festival awards Pansequito with the Calle de Alcalá prize. Next February, during the course of the twentieth edition of the Madrid’s event (previously known as Caja Madrid Flamenco Festival), the Cádiz-born singer José Cortés Jiménez ‘Pansequito’ will receive this award. The winner’s name has been decided unanimously by the jury, composed by José Manuel Caballero Bonald, Félix Grande, José María Velázquez-Gaztelu, Ángel Álvarez Caballero, Manuel Ríos Ruiz and Francisco Gutiérrez Carbajo, acting Alejandro Reyes as president in his role of director of the festival. Since 1994, the award has distinguished the career of flamenco artists such as Manuela Carrasco, José Mercé, Merche Esmeralda, Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares and Paco de Lucía, among others.
