Pitingo premieres ‘Malecón Street’ live. On stage at the Teatro Calderón in Madrid on the night of December 13th, 2011, the cantaor and singer revealed the repertoire of his fourth studio album, on which he reinterprets Cuban folk songs - from ‘Guantanamera’ to ‘Nosotros’, with ‘Quizás, quizás’ and ‘El manisero’ in between, among others -, but emphasizing who their authors were. Surrounded by a renewed band of musicians led by Cuban Yadam González, the disc’s musical producer, the artist gets away from his main references, flamenco and soul, to focus on an interpretation of the songs closer to their original conception. Even so, the jondo lilts (Valderrama-style) and the soul twists were present in a concert in which, given the dates, he made a reference to flamenco-Christmas with a version of ‘Los campanilleros’ in which he was accompanied on guitar by Juan Carmona.
