Flamenco cantaor Pitingo takes part in the soundtrack of the film ‘Cándida’. The Huelva-born cantaor performs a bulerías version of ‘Gwendolyne’ by Julio Iglesias, embellished with Juan Camborio’s guitar and choruses by the Sitte brothers (members of the group Mojo Project). Also collaborating on the soundtrack are other musicians from the flamenco world such as guitarist Enrique de Melchor, contrabassist Pablo Martín, flutist Fernando Bravo, Faín S. Dueñas - ex-member of Radio Tarifa - and guitarist Salva del Real, among others. The film is directed by Guillermo Fesser, member of the radio duo Gomaespuma and organizer of the Flamenco pa’Tos Festival. At the presentation which took place at the tablao Casa Patas on December 19th, 2006, the débuting filmmaker explained that “Pitingo, who is flamenco’s future, takes the song by Julio Iglesias back to flamenco with complete native ease”. Next, the cantaor performed the film’s main song live. All proceeds from the record sales will be donated to the Gomaespuma Foundation, which carries out projects aiding development in countries such as Senegal.
