Miguel Poveda sings in the Americas with two recitals at the Festival Internacional Cervantino in Mexico. The cantaor, accompanied by guitarist Chicuelo, will perform on Friday 15th October 2004 at Teatro Manuel Poblado in León, and on Sunday 17th at Teatro Juárez in Guanajuato. He promises to offer Mexican audiences two different flavors: on the one hand, traditional flamenco 'cantes', and on the other songs based on poems by Rafael Alberti, featured on his latest album ‘Poemas del exilio’. A similar format to the one he recently used to widespread acclaim at the 2004 Festival Bienal de Flamenco in Seville. The Festival Internacional Cervantino pays homage in its thirty-second edition to Spain, on the occasion of the four hundredth anniversary of the publication of 'Don Quijote de la Mancha' by Miguel de Cervantes. As a result, there'll be a strong presence of Spanish artists. The Ballet Nacional de España and the company La Cuadra from Seville, under the direction of Salvador Távora, are also on the bill.
