Rafael Estévez and Nani Paños premiere ‘Preflamencos’. The bailaores and choreographers, directors of Dospormedio & Cía, present a new “choreographic whim, based on the history of Spanish dance and flamenco”. ‘Música nocturna de las calles de Madrid’ (‘Night Music in the Streets of Madrid’) (1780) by Luigi Boccherini is the leit motiv of the show’s soundtrack, but treated creatively by electronic musician Artomatico, who they have been collaborating with in creations like ‘220v’ which they premiered at Madrid en Danza 2010 together with Antonio Ruz. In this musical journey between the 18th and 21st centuries, composer Luis Prado also collaborates with the arrangements of ‘Playera’ (1866) by Manuel Fernández Grajal. The lineup is joined by dancers Rosana Romero and Jesús Perona. The show’s starting point is documentary research, beginning with books like ‘Guía comentada de música y baile preflamencos (‘Commented Guide on Pre-flamenco Music and Baile’) (1750-1808)’ by Faustino Núñez and ‘Los cafés cantantes de Madrid’ (‘The Singing Cafés of Madrid’) by José Blas Vega. ‘Preflamencos’ is displayed for the first time in Madrid’s Circuito Artes 2011: on November 5th at the Eduardo Úrculo Cultural Center and on November 26th at the El Pozo Cultural Center.
