Sara Baras opens the flamenco festival in the Spanish Pavilion at the 2005 EXPO Aichi with overwhelming success. Sara Baras received two ovations from Japanese audiences with her show ‘Sueños’: at the Aichi Expo Dome on Saturday 7th May (where, as an exceptional measure, the doors had to be opened due to huge attendance) and at the Tokyo International Forum on Tuesday 10th May. After the Cadiz-born bailaora's hugely successful performance, she moves aside for Eva Yerbabuena, Diego Cigala alongside Chucho Valdés, Mayte Martín and Belén Maya, Ojos de Brujo, the Nuevo Ballet Español and a Flamenco Gala with Merche Esmeralda, El Güito, Carmen Cortés and Gerardo Núñez. These are just some of the shows that the Spanish Pavilion at EXPO Aichi 2005, run by the SEEI, will take to Japan. The resulting Flamenco Festival runs from 7th to 31st May, and will feature more than twenty shows.
