Son
de la Frontera, best European world music group at
the BBC Radio 3 Awards 2008. The British radio station
decided on the band from Morón de la Frontera, whose
music is based on the encounter between Diego del Gastor’s
guitar legacy and the Cuban tres. It competed with Manu Chao,
Thierry ‘Titi’ Robin and Ojos de Brujo, the flamenco
band which had already won the award in 2003. The prize will
be given at an awards gala scheduled for July 30th at London’s
Royal Albert Hall. Meanwhile, Son de la Frontera continues with
the tour of its second album, ‘Cal’, in countries
such as Estonia, Belgium, Morocco, the United Kingdom and Spain,
besides collaborating with artists like Martirio and Lila Downs.
