Ti-me-ta-ble |
The contemporary flamenco dancing show
‘Ti-me-ta-ble’ is performed in Madrid. The
show by bailaores Marco
Vargas and Chloé
Brûlé, winner of the most innovative award at
Seville’s past Bienal de Flamenco, reaches the Teatro Bellas
Artes (Fine Arts Theater) in the Spanish capital on November 4th
and 5th. In both performances, which are part of the Andalucía
a Escena 2009 Series, they will stage a show which is about “a
woman and a man plunged in a spiral of time”. Situated between
them is ‘Crono’, played by cantaor Juan
José Amador. The cast is completed with pianist Diego
Amador and percussionist Diego
Amador Jr. The lineup also includes Juan Carlos Lérida
as choreographer of the piece ‘El tiempo corre, y deprisa’
and guitarist Raúl Cantizano as creator of part of the
music. As Vargas explained at the press conference, “the
show is one hundred percent flamenco but with a contemporary concept”.
And he added that “we’ve always been interested in
using flamenco style and taking it a step further. It’s
not easy, but it’s natural for us, since we aren’t
moved by an intention of innovating, but of telling”. Other
shows by the duo stem from that philosophy such as the prior ‘Cuando
uno quiere y el otro no’, the street show ‘Las 24’
and the new ‘¿Hacia dónde?’.
