Flamenco joins
Mauricio Sotelo’s contemporary classical music in the
show ‘Otra//Utrera’ by Proyecto Lorca.
Saxophonist Juan M. Jiménez and percussionist Antonio
Moreno revise Utrera’s flamenco tradition from a viewpoint
halfway between the avant-garde and tradition. “Bambino’s
intensity, Enrique Montoya’s lightness and Fernanda
de Utrera’s depth” are combined in a
concert with scores by Mauricio Sotelo, Máquina P.H.
and Alfredo
Lagos. ‘Otra//Utrera’, with Pedro G. Romero
as artistic director, includes the live collaborations of cantaor
Rafael
de Utrera, guitarist Alfredo Lagos and Bobote on baile and
compás. The premiere will take place on December 14th,
2007 at the Teatro Municipal Enrique de la Cuadra in the Seville-area
town of Utrera.
