Juanito Valderrama dies in Seville. The flamenco cantaor and ballad singer died on Monday, April 12th, 2004 at the age of 87 at his home in the town of Espartinas, as a result of the heart ailment he had suffered from for several years. Just two months ago, the Andalusian Junta and flamenco artists paid him tribute in Madrid. This recognition was gathered on the album 'Tributo a don Juan Valderrama' ('Tribute to Juan Valderrama'), on which cantaores such as Diego el Cigala, Carmen Linares and Miguel Poveda, among many others, re-perform the vast repertoire of the now deceased artist. The jewel of this work is the taranta sung by Juan Valderrama himself, accompanied on the guitar by Paco de Lucía. The tribute, on this occasion, made it in time.
