Veranos de la Villa 2010 offers a new summer bill of Flamenco at the Sabatini Gardens. Madrid once again gets ready to enjoy an intense schedule of flamenco shows, scarcely a month after the conclusion of Suma Flamenca 2010. But this time the proposal is outdoors, in the gardens adjacent to the Royal Palace in the Spanish capital. There are big names in cante, such as those of veterans José Mercé, Enrique Morente and José Menese. The more current generation of vocalists is represented by Arcángel with ‘Buscando la memoria’ and Mayte Martín with ‘Al cantar a Manuel’. Flamenco dancing is split up between two heavyweights of women’s baile, Eva Yerbabuena with ‘Eva’ and Carmen Cortés with ‘Mujer flamenca’, and the figure of Farruquito performing his show ‘Puro’. Encounters are also to be offered, like the guitar one starring Enrique de Melchor and Rafael Riqueni with the title ‘La danza de los gitanos’, the one by Manuel Molina with the Montoya family and the one by Gerardo Núñez with the members of his ‘Ensemble’. The series is part of Veranos de la Villa 2010, whose general program includes other main flamenco attractions at the stage Puerta del Ángel, such as Paco de Lucía, Miguel Poveda, Ojos de Brujo and Diego el Cigala.
