Flamenco dancing is side by side with Spanish dance at Danza en la Villa 2011. The bill of the new edition of the series, which is to be held from June 1st to July 3rd at the Teatro Fernán Gómez in Madrid, has brought together several shows in which the dialogue between different disciplines prevails. Flamenco dancing, Spanish classical, contemporary neo-classical and the bolero school converge, according to Rafael Estévez and Nani Paños, in “the choreographic fantasy” which is ‘Sonata’. The show by Dospormedio & Cía., with Antonio Ruz as choreographer and guest dancer, will be on stage June 7th and 8th. A sample of this show could be seen in the presentation ceremony of the series to the press. A similar concept runs through ‘Tranquilo alboroto’ by Rubén Olmos - on the bill June 10th and 11th -, a production premiered at Seville’s 2010 Bienal de Flamenco, highlighted by a tribute to Manuela Vargas, the special collaboration of Rocío Coral and the ‘Falsa farruca’ choreographed by Israel Galván. More focused on flamenco dancing and, more specifically, on that of his native land, Granada, is the show by Manuel Liñán. ‘Tauro’, which will be seen on June 30th and July 1st, “remodels the ritual of the zambra, which includes the cachucha, mosca, alboreá and fandangos del Albaicín”, as its creator explains. Other companies like Ballet David Campos, LaMov, Ballet Español María Rosa, RAF Crew and Koresh Dance Company, among others, are also in this program.
