‘¡Viva
Jerez!’ closes Flamenco Festival London 2008.
The show which inaugurated Festival de Jerez begins its international
tour. And it premieres beyond the borders of Spain at Sadler’s
Wells in the English capital, as the climax of Flamenco Festival
London 2008. Bailaoras María
del Mar Moreno and Mercedes
Ruiz are the guest artists of this show, in which they share
the spotlight with an abundant company of bailaores, cantaores
and guitarists who uphold the tradition of Jerez flamenco. ‘¡Viva
Jerez!’, the first production of its own by Festival de
Jerez, has a creative crew including director Francisco López,
musical coordinator Paco Cepero, choreography coordinator Javier
Latorre and the special collaboration of veteran baile maestra
Angelita Gómez. This show, whose concept is to update
the roots, closes the London Flamenco Festival which, since
it opened on March 3rd with ‘Sevilla’ by María
Pagés, has staged shows such as ‘Mujeres’
by Merche Esmeralda, Belén Maya and Rocío Molina,
‘La edad de oro’ by Israel Galván and ‘Una
mirada del flamenco’ by Rafaela Carrasco.
