Eva
Yerbabuena: “When we’ve premiered ‘El
huso de la memoria’, my dream will have come true”.
And the thing is that the Granada-born bailaora still finds
it hard to believe not just that she’s going to be at
Madrid’s Teatro de la Zarzuela, but with an absolute premiere,
moreover inaugurating the 150th anniversary of this outstanding
stage. During her encounter with the press, she could hardly
hold back the excitement this event means to her career as an
artist. She didn’t want to reveal much about the contents
of the show, which will run from September 13th to 17th, but
let on that “it’s a really simple show in which
the feelings are reflected that anyone can have when thinking
about his past”. The show, with music by Paco
Jarana and stage design by Óscar Mariné, puts
nine dancers and nine musicians up on stage, among them, cantaores
Pepe de Pura, Enrique Soto and Rafael de Utrera, with the collaboration
of contemporary dancers Patrick de Bana and Aída Badía.
From September 19th to 24th, the company changes its repertoire
and premieres its previous show, ‘A cuatro voces’,
before the Madrid crowd. The new ‘Huso de la memoria’
will be put on within Seville’s Bienal de Flamenco on
October 6th and 7th at the Teatro Lope de Vega.
