It’s not that recognized artists aren’t on its agenda, but Flamenco Viene del Sur 2014 does stress new flamenco talents. The seventeenth edition of the series, which is to be held between February and May, proposes a total of 41 performances spread throughout the eight Andalusian provinces. And young talents stand out in the program such as Rancapino Jr., Eduardo Guerrero, Jeromo Segura, Luisa Palicio and Jesús Carmona, among others. Together with them, there will be recognized figures like Paco Cepero, Rancapino, Milagros Mengíbar, Mayte Martín, Remedios Amaya, Diego Carrasco, Capullo de Jerez, Miguel Angel Cortés, Niño de Pura, Andrés Marín and Belén Maya, as well as up-and-coming cantaores such as Rocío Márquez and Jesús Méndez. Moreover, the program is joined by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía and the winners of the 4th Andalusian Young Flamencos Contest.

Flamenco Viene del Sur 2014 presents its seventeenth edition. The program brings together 128 artists, 37 top figures and 91 collaborating artists, among them, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. A total of 41 performances will tour the eight Andalusian provinces between the months of February and May. According to the press release from the Instituto Andaluz del Flamenco (Andalusian Flamenco Institute), promoter of the series, half of it will be taken care of by artists who had never before appeared with a name of their own in the series. Most of these débuts correspond to new talents of the genre such as Rancapino Jr., Eduardo Guerrero, La Piñona, Abel Harana, Lucía Ruibal, Churumbaque Jr., El Choro, Jeromo Segura, Luisa Palicio, Marta Robles, Ariadna Castellanos, Guadalupe Torres and Jesús Carmona.

As always, the program will also have recognized figures such as veterans Paco Cepero and Rancapino, traditional bailaoras Milagros Mengíbar and Carmelilla Montoya, cantaoras as prestigious as Mayte Martín, Remedios Amaya and La Macanita, cantaores of substance like Capullo de Jerez, shaking baile artists such as Andrés Marín and Belén Maya, voices as fresh as those belonging to Rocío Márquez and Jesús Méndes, heterodox ones like Diego Carrasco and reliable tocaores such as Niño de Pura and Miguel Ángel Cortés, among others. The agenda is joined by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, with the recently-premiered show 'En la memoria del cante: 1922', and the awards ceremony of the 4th Andalusian Young Flamencos Contest at the Teatro Alhambra in Granada, with bailaor Rafael Ramírez, cantaor Antonio García and guitarist Álvaro Pérez.

Creative and performing diversity
The Culture Council of the Junta de Andalucía, the body promoting the program, affirms that the series “once again has huge creative and performing diversity, with toque, baile and cante”. And it upholds that “it’s a program which combines all of flamenco’s artistic disciplines and presents more traditional proposals and more avant-garde shows and alternates the mastery of recognized artists with the participation of great up-and-coming flamenco figures”. The three theaters managed by the Junta - the Teatro Central in Seville, the Teatro Alhambra in Granada and the Teatro Cánovas in Málaga – are joined on the circuit by stages such as those of the Gran Teatro in Córdoba, the Teatro Las Cocheras in Huelva and the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez (Festival de Jerez 2014).
