it does so with three live displays of its first releases.
On Thursday, September 4th, Jerez-born cantaor David Lagos
provides a preview of what will be his first album, ‘El
espejo en que me miro’. On Friday, September 5th,
Ecijan guitarist Jesús Torres is to perform several
songs off his disc ‘Viento del Norte’. And
on Saturday, September 6th, Cádiz-born cantaora
Encarna
Anillo will sing several songs off her début
album ‘Barcas de plata’. There is free admission

Flamenco World Music warms up the flamenco
ambience prior to Bienal de Sevilla 2008. On September
4th, 5th and 6th at 8 in the evening, the new record label
promoted by Flamenco-world.com will present itself at
the Fnac Forum in Seville. And it does so with three showcases
by several of the label’s artists; two with an album
out on the market and a third with one in the works. Admission
is free until the seating capacity is filled.
The project which is in the production
phase is the one getting things started. On Thursday,
September 4th, cantaor David
Lagos, a usual collaborator for artists such as Israel
Galván, reveals part of the contents of his first
solo disc. ‘El espejo en que me miro’, a very
personal look at the Jerez-born cantaor’s artistic
references, will be released in fall. As in most of the
songs on the album, he is accompanied on guitar by Alfredo
Lagos, an experienced accompanist for figures like Fernando
Terremoto.
Jesús
Torres appears at the Forum of the cultural center
in Seville on Friday, September 5th. The Ecijan guitarist,
who has composed music for the premieres at Bienal 2008
by Isabel Bayón and by Rafaela Carrasco, will perform
scores off his album ‘Viento del Norte’, out
on the market since last March. The record consists of
pieces made for baile, but treated and revised for solo
guitar. Critic Fermín Lobatón wrote in ‘El
País’ that the result “is a fresh,
stimulating contribution to the rich solo guitar scene
of our days”.

Flamenco World Music’s triple lineup
is closed by Encarna Anillo with a live display of ‘Barcas
de plata’. The Cádiz-born cantaora’s
disc, also out on the market since March, offers “classical
but fresh flamenco cante”, in her own words. And
it includes, among other pieces, bulerías composed
by Farruquito, tangos paying tribute to the Montoya family
and bulerías dedicated to La Perla. The album has
already been presented in forums like Festival De Cajón!
2008 in Barcelona, with Miguel Poveda - executive producer
- as special guest.
Upcoming record releases
Flamenco World Music got started on February
26th at Festival de Jerez 2008. At the setting of Bodega
de Los Apóstoles, the record label was launched
with a triple concert in which David Lagos, Jesús
Torres and Encarna Anillo presented their respective records.
The project is promoted by Flamenco-world.com, the leading
flamenco website since 1997. Upcoming record releases
include the album ‘Vientos flamencos II’ by
Jorge
Pardo.
