Tomasito, Kiko Veneno, Los Delinqüentes
and Muchachito Bombo Infierno form the flamenco rock group
G-5
The band makes its album début with
the release of ‘Tucaratupapi’

Aiming to recover the spirit of
the mythical Veneno, the musicians Tomasito, Kiko
Veneno, Los Delinqüentes (Marcos de Ojo and El
Canijo) and Muchachito Bombo Infierno have joined forces
to create the group G-5. The band, whose members define
it as a “ghost group”, has been forged live.
And what started off as just collaborations with each other
has ended up materializing in a project which, without clashing
with their individual careers, now has its first album.
‘Tucaratupapi’ is to be released in late November
2006.

G-5 in the recording
studio
‘Tucaratupapi’ is released
in a special edition including a twenty-minute DVD documentary
shot during the recording of the album. According to Tomasito,
they all gathered in intense days of music and composing
at La Bodega de Jerez Studios. The Jerez-born bailaor and
singer praises Kiko Veneno’s mastery, Los Delinqüentes’
swiftness and Muchachito Bombo Infierno’s talent.
And he admits that “there are songs which came out
of just any anecdote as we went along at the studio”.
In total, the album has a dozen songs,
from which ‘El vino y el pescao’ has been chosen
as the first promo single. As on the albums by Kiko Veneno,
Pata Negra or the solo ones by Tomasito, the stress is on
the lyrics, all of which are streetwise, somewhat harsh
and a bit social. The music draws on diverse influences,
among them, flamenco, rock, pop and rumba. And the instrumentation
is based on the sum of acoustic guitars, voices and Tomasito’s
percussion, both on the box drum and baile.
Solo, Kiko Veneno is continuing the tour
of his latest album, ‘El hombre invisible’,
just like Los Delinqüentes with ‘El verde rebelde
vuelve’. Tomasito, at the same time as G-5, is taking
part in the show ‘Los
Juncales’, together with Diego Carrasco, Manuel
Molina and Moraíto; and in the new project by Chano
Domínguez, ‘New
Flamenco Sound’.
