to Latin America with "Live"

Nearly a hundred thousand people followed the dancer's international tour last year

Joaquín Cortés is keeping the "Live" flame burning. The show which last year was enjoyed by nearly a hundred thousand people, is continuing to tour throughout Europe and Latin America. After successes in Germany, the dancer is crossing the Atlantic to satisfy the demand for flamenco dance in countries like Peru, Puerto Rico (USA) and Mexico. "Live", which follows the acclaimed "Pasión Gitana" and "Soul", is a show where music and cante play an important role leaving Joaquín Cortés alone with his dance...and with the audience.

Since March of 2001 when Joaquín Cortés premiered "Live" in Barcelona's Teatro Tivoli, some one hundred million people have seen the show on European and Latin American stages. But the dancer is not resting on his laurels. The international tour of this work, which toured throughout Germany in January of 2002, is returning to Latin America where last year it traveled to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Mexico.

On February 13th, after appearing in the German cities of Frankfurt and Salzburg on the 3rd and 6th of February respectively, "Live" is returning to Lima's Jockey Club where last season it drew 3,600 spectators. Afterwards, the dancer from Córdoba will bring his show to Puerto Rico on February 17th and then, on February 21st he travels to Guadalajara, the Mexican City where some 1,800 people attended his concert at the Teatro Galerías in 2001.

In "Live" Joaquín Cortés attacks the baile head-on backed up by a dozen musicians who bring flamenco a little closer to different types of music such as classical, Arabic, Sephardic, Afro-Cuban and jazz. The music was created expressly for the show by Diego Carrasco, Jesús Bola, Juan Parrilla and Joaquín Cortés' own group, adorned by Juanjo Beloqui and dressed by Giorgio Armani. The results of these efforts have already taken shape in Russia, Italy, Portugal and Spain following "Pasión Gitana" and "Soul".
