Flamenco-world.com, September 2011

Flamenco is playing an increasing role on the international music scene. An example is the presence of musicians of this Spanish genre in the annual Latin Grammy awards. 'Las pequeñas cosas' by guitarist Josemi Carmona, 'Piano Ibérico’ by pianist Chano Domínguez, ‘Corriente vital’ by the band Ojos de Brujo, ‘La orilla de mi pelo’ by Niña Pastori and ‘15 años’ by the singer Pastora Soler are the five albums that opt this year for the latin music award as Best Flamenco Album. The flamenco singer Diego el Cigala is also nominated, but in another category, as Best Tango Album for his 'Cigala & Tango’, recorded live at the Gran Rex in Buenos Aires. Artists like Shakira, Jorge Drexler, Calle 13, Malú, Maná, Paquito D'Rivera, Chick Corea and Al Di Meola, among other international figures, are competing in different sections of this awards. The winner of this twelfth edition will be announced at the awards ceremony that will take place on November 10th, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
