Antonio Suárez Salazar, Guadiana,
has taken three years to return to the studio since releasing his debut album
'Cuando el río suena'. Guadiana reappears with 'Brillo de luna', a second
album also released by Nuevos Medios which offers everything from tanguillos,
rumbas and bulerías to seguiriyas, soleá and granaínas in
its ten tracks. It even includes a version of Moutsaki's verdiales 'El Extranjero'.
The cast of musicians who accompany Guadiana on this work includes, among others,
the record producer Juan Carmona, Niño Josele, Viejín, José
Miguel Carmona and Paquete. The singer Montse Cortés and the percussionists
Guillermo McGuill, Piraña and Chaboli also lend a hand with important contributions.

Guadiana has recorded his second album. The
singer from the Porrina family from Extremedura is releasing 'Brillo de luna'
on the Nuevos Medios label in May 2002. The record, produced by Juan Carmona,
is helping the brother of Ramón el Portugués to cast off the label
of top-class accompanist. And there is good reason why. Guadiana undertakes ten
songs tangos, soleá por bulerías, coro, bulerías, granaína,
rumba, tanguillos, verdiales and seguiriyas, the majority of which are written
by himself. The variety of his repertoire gives some idea of the versatility of
a singer capable of producing Moutsaki's verdiales, 'El Extranjero' - a track
already included in 'Chanson Flamenca' (Karonte, 2001) - or getting carried away
by Ketama-like sounds and then collecting himself for the seguiriyas in 'La Fragua'.
To help with his second record, Guadiana has
surrounded himself with a notable cast of musicians. The guitars of Viejín,
Juan Carmona, José Miguel Carmona, Niño Josele, Caracolillo, Paquete,
Montoyita, Manuel Parrilla, Camarón de Pitita and Jesús del Rosario
are all to be heard on the album. With the notable exception of Tomatito and the
addition of Niño Josele, nearly all the artists also played on his first
work 'Cuando el río suena', which also included Carles Benavent on bass
and Tino di Geraldo on drums.
The percussion section is no less impressive.
Chaboli, Piraña and Guillermo McGill are just some of the musicians who
provide the rhythm for the singer. Many of the tracks also feature backing from
voices such as Montse Cortés, Luisi Carmona, Ángela Bautista and
Antonio el Negro; and the clapping and jaleos of, among others, Juañares,
Pepe Luis Carmona and Chelo Pantoja..
