The orchestral work composed by Vicente Amigo to pay tribute to the poet Rafael Alberti returns to the scene. It will be on July 5th as the inaugural show of the 2011 Córdoba Guitar Festival. After this opening, flamenco will be alternating in the schedule with international guitarists and bands of different styles, including John McLaughlin, Ariel Rot, Pablo Milanés and ZZ Top. At the scene of the Gran Teatro the ‘jondo’ proposals will be represented by two flamenco dance and one guitar shows. Javier Barón will perform 'Vaivenes' and Rocío Molina her new show 'Vinática'. On the same stage, the veteran guitarist Víctor Monge 'Serranito' will review his complete works on 'Mi sonido en el tiempo’. And Joaquín Cortés will star the Festival closing the flamenco program with 'Calé' at the Teatro de la Axerquía. More flamenco will be seen at the Teatro Góngora, hosting the finals of the 9th Young Accompanying Flamenco Guitar Contest organized by Cristina Heeren Foundation. Complementing the live performances, the festival emphasizes the tuition area, with a wide range of courses including flamenco guitar workshop by Manolo Sanlúcar, dance courses by Rocío Molina and Javier Latorre, and singing classes by Arcángel and Calixto Sánchez.
