Adi Foundation continues its work
to spread flamenco around Israel. From March 23rd to 25th,
2006, a new edition is to be held of the Flamenco Days Festival
at Suzanne Dellal Dance Center in Tel Aviv and on the 22nd
in Haifa. This edition is going to feature Sevillian bailaora
Ángeles
Gabaldón, star of the show ‘Taller Flamenco’,
a laboratory in which long-forgotten styles are recovered
such as the zambra on piano, the serrana and the guajira.
There will also be room in the program for the local production
‘Carmen’, choreographed by Valeri Panov and
Sharon Sagi, besides a matinee with Israeli flamenco groups
and ‘Don Juan in Flamenco Land’ for children.

Ángeles Gabaldón will be
accompanied at the Israeli festival by bailaores Lidia Valle,
Felipe
Mato and Víctor Daniel Gómez, guitarists
Óscar Lago and Manuel Pérez, cantaores Vicente
Muñoz and Juan Reina, percussionist Antonio Montiel
and pianist Miguel Ángel López. Together,
they will rescue styles from oblivion like the zambra on
piano, the farruca, the guajira and the serrana, among others,
“but reinterpreted from the contemporaneousness of
today's flamenco”. ‘Taller flamenco’ is
a small-scale show by the Ángeles Gabaldón
Company, which has already put on productions such as ‘Inmigración’
at several flamenco festivals.
Also to be staged is a version of ‘Carmen’
co-produced by Panov Ballet Theater and Adi Foundation,
performed by the Duende Company and choreographed by Israelis
Valeri Panov and Sharon Sagui, establishing a dialogue between
classical ballet and flamenco. Moreover, on the 24th the
festival offers the show ‘Israeli Flamenco Matinee’
with seven young local companies and a bata de cola workshop
with Ángeles Gabaldón, while on the 25th the
performance is scheduled of ‘Don Juan in Flamenco
Land’ for children.
