The offer of Festival de Jerez’s
flamenco dancing courses grows year after year. The next
edition, which will take place from February 25th to March
12th, 2010 in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz, Spain),
reaches a total of 1,070 places, sixty more than the previous
year. During the two weeks of the festival, and at the same
time as its show schedule, 44 courses will be held at different
studios in the city taught by veteran maestros such as Matilde
Coral, Merche Esmeralda and Blanca del Rey, as well
as by young instructors of the likes of Joaquín
Grilo, Belén Maya, Ángel Muñoz,
Alicia Márquez and Olga Pericet, among others. The
courses are split up into four levels and have a length
of between 10 and 15 hours spread out over 7 days. For the
second year, the program also includes two choreography
workshops taught by Javier
Latorre, which results will be shown on Sala Compañía
stage; and four compás and clapping workshops. The
novelty of this fifteenth edition is ‘¡Que me
quiten lo bailao!’, four special beginners’
flamenco dancing courses for senior students. Registration,
which includes attendance to the shows at the Teatro Villamarta,
will open on September 1st, 2010.
