Jerónimo Maya débuts with the
flamenco guitar album 'Jerónimo'

El Indio Gitano's voice and José Antonio Galicia's percussion

Promises are kept. Jerónimo
is no longer a child prodigy, but rather a full-fledged guitarist coming full
swing onto the record scene with his first album. 'Jerónimo' is a summary
of his own compositions which strolls through a wide range of styles: bulerías,
tangos, rondeña, zapateado, soleá, seguiriyas, granaínas...
And unscathed by transgression at that, since there is room for everything from
a tribute to Django Reinhardt to some song or other. Standing out as collaborators
are cantaores El Yunque and El Ciervo, as well as percussionists Lucky Losada
and Ramón Porrina. Moreover, Jerónimo dusts off the legacy of two
now-deceased artists: El Indio Gitano's cante and José Antonio Galicia's
Indian tabla. 'Jerónimo' is scheduled to go on sale on May 20th, 2004,
but you can already make your advance order and listen to the album at Flamenco-world.com.

With numerous performances behind him, main
roles in cante accompaniment such as 'Vestido de luces' by Paco del Pozo, more
than favorable reviews and even better expectations amongst enthusiasts, Jerónimo
Maya is coming out with his first album: 'Jerónimo'. This letter of presentation
begins with the bulería 'La Calí', with the participation of El
Ciervo on cante and Lucy Losada on box drum. It continues with the tangos 'Antepasaos',
standing out in which is the Indian tabla played by José
Antonio Galicia, the musician who died last September. The guitarist changes
phases with the rondeña 'Desde el espíritu', which he performs solo,
just like the soleá 'De Montoya, Sabas a Paco'. He puts in between the
zapateado 'Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart', with the piano of José Ramón
Jiménez.
Halfway through the album is the bulería
'La Cotorra', with the voice of Miguel el Rubio and Ramón
Porrina on box drum. The seventh cut on the album is 'Rey Chango', a tribute
to gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, in which he's accompanied by guitarist Leo
de Aurora and drummer Olle Linder. Next, he returns to the most deep-rooted flamenco
with a seguiriya entitled 'El Planeta' sung by El Indio Gitano. Along these same
lines is the granaína 'Algo pa' mí', with the cante of El
Yunque. The repertoire finishes with the piece 'Enamorao del amor'.
The record, released by the new independent
label Alma100 Música, will go on sale beginning May 20th, 2004. Flamenco-world.com
gives the public the chance to reserve and buy a copy in advance, besides being
able to listen to a selection of songs from the much-awaited album in RealAudio.
