Jorge Pardo, on saxophone and flute, heads
an orchestra of ten musicians with some variations with regards to the group on
the album, where the late José Antonio Galicia, New York accordion player
Gil Goldstein and Italian trumpet player Paolo Fresu all played. On this occasion
the group consists of Antonio Ramos and Antonio Ximénez on trumpet; Uve
Larson on trombone; Fernando Bravo on saxophone and piccolo; Juan
Diego on guitar; Carles
Benavent on bass; Tino di Geraldo on drums; Tomasito on rhythm; and Antonio
Soteldo, Musiquita, on piano, four-stringed guitar and arrangements.
Together they will shape a repertoire conceived
in its day by Jorge Pardo for shows such as 'El silencio rasgado' by the Spanish
National Ballet -premiered, with choreography by Aida Gómez, at this same
theater in 1998 - and 'El retablillo de don Cristóbal' by Teatro de la
Danza (Dance Theater). Standing out are pieces such as the storyline 'Silencio
rasgado 6545', 'De picos pardo', 'Lologramos', 'San José', 'Currito', 'El
poeta'... even 'El bolero de Ravel'.
Jazzterrasman 2004
Moreover, Jorge Pardo has recently been distinguished
as 'Jazzterrasman' of the 2004 Terrassa Jazz Festival for "his contribution
to Spain's jazz scene". At the award ceremony gala, which took place on March
28th, 2004 at Nova Jazz Cava, Pardo gave thanks with a concert by the Jorge Pardo
Reunion, a band in which musicians such as Antonio Ximénez, Perico Sambeat,
Francis Pose, José Vázquez, Jordi Bonell, Carles Benavent, Tino
di Geraldo and Josep María Farràs take part.
