The patriarch of the Granada
school of guitar, Juan
Habichuela, takes the plunge with cante once again.
As with the previous album, on ‘Una guitarra en
Granada’ he's flanked by distinguished vocalists
from the contemporary cante scene. José Menese,
Potito, Chano Lobato, Marina Heredia and Rancapino are
among those who take part in this recording project, whose
release date is set for 21st May 2007.

Por soleá with José Menese.
Por tientos with Potito. Por bulerías with Pepe
Luis Carmona. Por alegrías with his friend Chano
Lobato. Por tangos (Granada style) with Marina Heredia.
Por taranta with Rancapino, once again. And por tangos
with the family, with María and Juan Camborio.
All these vocalists - the classical, the legendary, the
young and the familiar - are here to accompany Juan Habichuela
on guitar for his new album ‘Una guitarra en Granada’.
He used the same formula on his previous
release, ‘Campo del Príncipe’, which
came out in 2002. Guest artists such as Estrella Morente,
Carles Benavent, La Barbería del Sur, Juan Valderrama,
Miguel Poveda, Rancapino and Enrique Morente accompanied
the maestro to the recording studios on that occasion.
Over the last five years, Juan Habichuela
has selected his projects carefully, keeping the balance
between live and studio work. He got together with some
colleagues from way back - Matilde Coral and Chano Lobato
- in the show ‘Historias de arte’, which they
performed at festivals like Festival de Jerez, Mont de
Marsan and Festival de Las Minas de La Unión. He's
also appeared on projects including Enrique
Morente's ‘Morente sueña la Alhambra’
- both on the album and in the movie; Pitingo's album
‘Pitingo con Habichuelas’; on the Estrella
Morente DVD ‘Casacueva y escenario’; and in
the documentary on Ketama ‘Herencia flamenca’.
