An exquisite selection of flamenco’s biggest names will shake the foundations of London this coming February. The 2006 Flamenco Festival London draws an impressive line-up of flamenco artists to Sadler’s Wells between 10th and 25th February. Of the three flamenco modalities, baile, cante and toque, the festival leans toward dance, which both opens and rounds off the program.

The festival is kicked off by Sara Baras, who returns to the festival with four days on the bill given over to her new show ‘Sabores’. She's followed by Andrés Marín, Ballet Nacional de España, Antonio el Pipa and Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. The guitar will have a presence in the hands of Vicente Amigo, on tour with the album ‘Un momento en el sonido’, while cante is represented by Enrique Morente.

Flamenco dance, guitar and vocals will also be blended at the Gala de Andalucía, an encounter for Andalusian flamenco artists scheduled for Monday 20th. The main program is complemented by several smaller shows scheduled at the 200-seater Lilian Baylis Theatre: Son de la Frontera, Diego Amador, Miguel Poveda and the trio comprising Manuel Liñán, Marcos Flores and Olga Pericet.

At previous editions this London-based festival - with ties to Flamenco Festival USA - has featured artists such as José Mercé, María Pagés, Cañizares, Eva Yerbabuena and Chocolate.
