Three bailaoras display their latest
creations at the 2010 London Flamenco Festival. Eva
Yerbabuena presents ‘Lluvia’, her ode to
melancholy premiered at the past Festival de Jerez. María
Pagés sings ‘Autorretrato’, a creative
review of her own biography as an artist. And Rafaela Carrasco
evokes the folk songs of Lorca and La Argentinita in ‘Vamos
al tiroteo’. The opening and closing shows cry out
for renewal. Nuevo Ballet Español, the company directed
by Ángel Rojas and Carlos Rodríguez, mixes
traditional and contemporary styles of Spanish dancing in
‘Cambio de tercio’. Then as the bill’s
final touch, the gala ‘Todo cambia’ brings together
four young talents of today’s flamenco dancing: Rocío
Molina, Manuel Liñán, Pastora Galván
and Belén López. The festival is to be held
at Sadler’s Wells from February 13th to 27th, 2010.
