Marina Heredia releases ‘Marina’,
her third flamenco cante album
The Granada-born cantaora pays tribute to the
cantaor tradition of Granada’s Albaycín

Marina
Heredia vindicates Granada’s flamenco flavor.
On her third solo album, the cantaora recovers cante gems
belonging to the neighborhood of Albaycín, among
them, tangos and fandangos. In general, the disc has a very
traditional style, focusing on the strength of her voice
with respect to different guitars. ‘Marina’
includes the soleá ‘Pal Parrón’
and the cante de Levante ‘Encarnación’
with guitar by Luis Mariano; the seguiriya ‘Cruz vieja’
with toque by José Quevedo ‘Bolita’ –
the album’s producer -; and the malagueña ‘El
Perchel’ with accompaniment by Miguel Ochando. But
the disc opens with a song-style bulería made from
Parrita’s ‘No me lo creo’, and some fresh
alegrías entitled ‘Sed’ composed by Farruquito.
With all of it, the cantaora is consolidated as one of the
great voices of today’s flamenco.
