When last November 25th 2010, Mario Pacheco passed away, the engine that revolutionized flamenco from the 80s, Nuevos Medios record label, was abruptly stopped. Many of the artists whom the legendary label gave voice will pay tribute to the producer and photographer on May 15th 2011 in the auditorium of the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, under the cultural festival Universimad 2011. The concert, that will be broadcasted live on Radio 3, is divided in three parts. The first, entitled ‘Young flamencos’, a band led by El Negri -the voice of La Barbería del Sur-, with guest artists such as Raimundo Amador, José el Francés, Josemi and Antonio Carmona, Ramón el Portugués and Guadiana. In the second, named as Ray Heredia's album ‘Quien no corre, vuela’, will be starred by musicians like Diego Amador and Sorderita, under the direction of Teo Cardalda. And the third, will be composed of performances by Juan Valderrama, Pepe Habichuela, Menta de Agua and G-3 (Tomasito, Muchachito and Canijo of Los Delinqüentes). All these and many more artists will pay homage to the driving force of some of the most important flamenco albums of the last three decades as ‘Voz de referencia’ by Diego Carrasco, ‘Shonghai’ by Ketama, ‘Blues de la Frontera’ by Pata Negra, ‘2332’ by Jorge Pardo, ‘Guitarra Gitana’ by Tomatito or 'Habichuela en rama’ by Pepe Habichuela, among others.
