Flamenco Empírico 2009 sets bailaores the challenge of experimentation

Flamenco dancing, like energy, transforms. And the latest mutations are going to be noticed by the Flamenco Empírico 2009 Series which, from February 16th to March 1st, is to be held at the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona. The project, commissioned by Juan Carlos Lérida and Belén Maya, includes the participation of bailaores such as Rocío Molina, Olga Pericet, Marco Vargas, Amador Rojas, Isabel Bayón and Andrés Marín, among others.

“Checking out the current state of the evolution and transformation of flamenco dancing”. That is the aim of the Flamenco Empírico 2009 Series which the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona organizes from February 16th to March 1st. Dancers and choreographers Juan Carlos Lérida and Belén Maya are the commissioners of this showcase, which provides a space for the exchange and improvisation ‘Tócame las palmas’, besides the creative workshops, the ‘Tapeos’ of short experimental pieces, lectures and debates, and audiovisual displays.

Besides the performances by Israel Galván with ‘El final de este estado de cosas. Redux’ and Increpación Danza with ‘Breviario’, the Flamenco Empírico Series will bring together over fifty artists, among them, Isabel Bayón, Amador Rojas, Olga Pericet, Marco Vargas, Yolanda Heredia, Andrés Marín, Pastora Galván, Marco Vargas and Rocío Molina, among others.
