The flamenco season in the United
States is beginning to take shape. Miami’s Adrienne
Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is the first theater
to announce its bill. The 2010 Miami Flamenco Festival,
scheduled for February 13th to 18th, will star female flamenco
dancing. In said setting, creative maestra María
Pagés revives her emblematic show ‘Flamenco
Republic’, which continues to go all over the world.
The ways of a new generation of bailaoras are displayed
by Rocío Molina with her latest production ‘Oro
Viejo’, premiered at Seville’s 2008 Bienal de
Flamenco. And as the opening, the program offers the collective
gala with new talents ‘Todo cambia’, including
the performances of, besides Rocío Molina, bailaoras
Pastora Galván and Belén López, as
well as bailaor Manuel Liñán. The festival,
whose previous edition was headed up by the Antonio Gades
Company with ‘Carmen’, is part of the circuit
Flamenco Festival USA.
