With the 2004 Bienal just under our belts, another important flamenco event has been put together in the environs of Seville. The Mistela Festival, with over a thirty-year history, is being extended an extra day in this edition to make room for an outstanding group of artists, including Israel Galván, Miguel Poveda, Mayte Martín and Lole. The festival, organized by Los Palacios Town Hall and the Flamenco Round-Table ‘El Pozo de las Penas’, will take place from Monday, October 18th to Saturday, October 23rd in the town of Los Palacios.

The dancing of Israel Galván and Pastora Galván, and the cante of Miguel Poveda, Mayte Martín, Calixto Sánchez and Lole Montoya are set to be the main attractions of this flamenco event. As has come to be a tradition, the festival kicks off with a photo exhibit that will be done this year by Colita and Julio Ubiña, with their work on the mythical bailaora Carmen Amaya. Amador Rojas, a local artist, will also have his place at the Municipal Theater. ‘La Venencia Flamenca’, a prize for non-recognized artists, has been given to guitarist Daniel Méndez, who will be in charge of putting the finishing touch on this appealing bill. The program is completed with a dance course taught by Israel Galván, who will be accompanied by his sister Pastora Galván.
