Mont de Marsan is about to take over the French flamenco agenda. From July 3rd to 8th, 2006, the city in southwest France will plunge once more into its annual tribute to flamenco art. The eighteenth edition puts the stress on baile, which will be performed at the gigantic Espace François Mitterrand by the Mario Maya Company with ‘Diálogo del Amargo’, by the Antonio el Pipa Company with ‘De tablao’ and by the La Farruca Company with ‘Gitanas’. The jondo will also be available for enjoyment on a small scale at the Café Cantante, on this occasion thanks to Mexican bailaoras La Wini and Karime Amaya, Gerardo Núñez Trio, Manuel Moneo and family, and a unique encounter with the Amador family from Seville.

The main bill is completed with the closing gala at Nahuques Hall, on this occasion ‘livened up’ by the group ‘Festeros’ and by ‘Maestros’, a meeting with the instructors who teach the festival’s workshops organized by Taller Flamenco, among others, Alejandro Granados and Isabel Bayón. Moreover, a daily program with local groups at La Bodega has been prepared for night owls. And besides the courses, the Ecole de Musique et de Danse is scheduled to host several lectures focusing on subjects such as Carmen Amaya, flamenco history and Pedro Bacán. Two exhibits close the offer of this festival, one of the main annual flamenco events, one of which consists of well-known photographs by Colita, and the other of renowned Conde Hermanos guitars.
