“Flamenco is an art, flamenco is a party”. That’s how Mont de Marsan focuses the celebration of the twentieth edition of its flamenco festival. From July 7th to 12th, 2008, the city in the French region of The Landes is preparing a commemorative bill of performances. The opening will be taken care of by Eva Yerbabuena, who recovers her show ‘A cuatro voces’ for the occasion. Another of the special performances is the festival’s own production, ‘De la mar al fuego’, a show which will gather thirty representatives from different flamenco territories: from Triana to Cádiz, with Jerez, Utrera and Lebrija in between.

Besides the large-scale shows at the Espace François Mitterand, the Café Cantante (Singing Café) will offer cante recitals by La Susi, El Lebrijano and José de la Tomasa. But this intimate venue will also be attended by baile, performed by bailaores Juan de Juan, Rosario Toledo and the couple consisting of Andrés Peña and Pilar Ogalla.

The offer is completed with a face-off between guitarists Manolo Franco and Niño de Pura. Nano de Jerez and the course maestros’ gala will illustrate the closing dinner. Street shows, lectures, a book and a retrospective photo exhibit complete the program of the now veteran festival.
