‘Vieux maîtres et danseurs
de feu’ (‘Old Maestros and Fired-up Dancers’).
That’s the slogan heading up the bill of the 2007
Nîmes Flamenco Festival, which is to be held January
22nd to 27th, 2007, with the performance by Enrique Morente
as the main event.

On the one hand, coming to Nîmes
are cante veterans of the likes of Fosforito, the latest
winner of Cante’s Llave de Oro (Golden Key) Award,
Jerez-born Fernando de la Morena and Cancanilla de Marbella.
And on the other hand, the new generation of bailaores will
be amply represented.
Heating up the festival’s stages,
Odéon and Théâtre, will be Granada-born
Fuensanta
la Moneta, Pepe Torres - member of the group Son de
la Frontera-, Andrés Marín with the show premiered
in the past edition of Seville’s Bienal ‘El
alba del último día’, Jerez-born Mercedes
Ruiz and Granada-born Manuel Liñán.
French artists like Antonio Negro and Juan
de la Alpujarra are also to perform at the event. Besides
courses and lectures, the festival will also have a special
activity at the Hôtel Atria; a late-night show by
La Tropa Santiaguera, the new generation of party artists
from the Jerez neighborhood of Santiago.
