Flamenco-world.com, December 2011

Tomatito, Niño Josele, Juan Ramón Caro, Manolo Franco, Eduardo Trassierra, Antonio Moya… are going to make flamenco guitar the star of the 2012 Nîmes Flamenco Festival. It will be a way of remembering Moraíto, the toque figure to whom the organization dedicates this twenty-second edition of the French festival. The bill maintains the role of baile, with current shows like ‘La curva’ by Israel Galván, ‘Vinática’ by Rocío Molina and ‘Extremo jondo’ by La Moneta. The cante section combines traditional voices such as those of José de la Tomasa, Inés Bacán and Capullo de Jerez, with fresh echoes like those of Rocío Márquez and María Toledo. And there are also collective theme shows like the one devoted to Extremadura’s flamenco ‘De tangos y jaleos’, the cante and poetry recital ‘La música de los espejos’, the children’s show ‘Flamencoland’ by Laura Vital and the dialogue between cante and rap ‘Raperos canasteros’ with the participation of Diego Carrasco and Tomasito, among others. The related activities include film showings and lectures on subjects such as Vicente Escudero’s painting, which is the image on the bill.
