France adds a new page to its flamenco history. The Nîmes Flamenco Festival celebrates its twentieth anniversary in its upcoming edition, scheduled from January 7th to 23rd, 2010. And it will do so with a special two-week bill - double its usual length - in which contrasts are the outstanding feature. The offer of shows combines proposals as avant-garde as ‘El cielo de tu boca’ by Andrés Marín with traditional cante recitals like that of Inés Bacán, young talents such as María José Franco with acclaimed bailaores like Javier Barón, sweet voices such as Mayte Martín’s with vindicative voices like that of El Cabrero, Diego Carrasco’s eclectic music with the unplugged cante of Antonio Campos… And not only will there be live flamenco, but also a program of related activities including photo exhibits, lectures, film showings and courses.
