Following a week of intense literary activity,
the Santiago de Chile International Book Fair closed its twenty-third edition
with flamenco guitar by Niño de Pura. The recital, which took place on
Sunday, November 9th, 2003 at Estación Mapocho Cultural Center, was sponsored
by the European Union, honorary guest of the fair, and the Spanish Embassy in
Chile.
The Sevillian guitarist is making the most
of his stay in the Chilean capital. Under the sponsorship of the Cultural Center
of Spain and with the help of the Andalusia Junta Culture Council, he will offer
a second concert which will close the 3rd Latin American Guitar Festival, besides
being a master class. The concert is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th, 2003
at Providencia Cultural Center. Taking part in the event are famous Latin American
guitarists such as Yamandú Costa, Alex Garrobé, Antonio Restucci
and Alberto Cumplido.
The presence of Niño de Pura on Latin
American stages has been a constant this year. The guitarist already presented
the concert for 'Pozo
y caudal', his latest album, at the 8th International Guitar Festival in Noroeste
Saltillo (Coahuila), Mexico, in July 2003.
