Paco de Lucía resumes
the European tour of ‘Cositas buenas’ in 2010
The flamenco guitarist is putting the finishing touches
on his new album, which could be released halfway through
the year

While fans are impatiently awaiting
the release of his new album, Paco de Lucía once
again encounters the European audience on stages. In February
2010, the guitarist resumes the tour of his previous album,
‘Cositas buenas’, with plans to tour some twenty
cities until May. Sarajevo, Belgrade, Berlin, Rome, Moscow,
Brussels and Basel, among other places on the continent,
have already confirmed their respective dates with the maestro
of flamenco music.

In the 2010 European tour, Paco de Lucía
will be accompanied by guitarist Niño Josele, bass
player Alain Pérez, Antonio Serrano on harmonica,
Piraña on percussion, Cristo Heredia and David de
Jacoba on cante and Farru on baile, as he informs on his
website. The Algeciras-born maestro will probably also play
around Spain and will extend the world tour to the United
States, Japan and Latin America, in view of a future retirement
from stages, but not from music.
At the same time as the European tour,
Paco de Lucía continues to make his long-awaited
album which, according to sources close to the artist, might
be released around next summer. He has been getting it ready
for over a year now at his own studio, set up at his residence
in Majorca. The explanation for the artist’s prolonged
period without a new album, now spanning five years, was
recently given by him in an interview on a program of the
television channel Intereconomía: “It takes
me so long to make a new album because I try for there to
be something new; not just a new theme, but rather a new
idea”.
Carlos Saura & Wynton Marsalis
Besides the tour and his own album, over
the past few months the guitarist has taken part in two
different projects. On the one hand, in November he traveled
to Seville to record a soleá before the cameras of
Carlos Saura for his new film ‘Flamenco Flamenco’,
which will premiere in September 2010. And on the other
hand, he has collaborated in the recording ‘Vitoria
Suite’ by American trumpet player Wynton Marsalis.
It is a tribute by the jazz player to the capital of Alava,
whose festival he played at with Paco de Lucía in
2006.
