Paco
Mora has managed for Spain and flamenco to have a place
for the first time at the International Heel-Tapping Dance
Festival, which has been held in Bogotá for the past
six years. The Málaga-born bailaor, who played the
role of Herod in Carlos Saura's ‘Salomé’,
will have flamenco measure up against dances from ten other
countries in the Colombian capital from June 4th to 14th,
2004. The artist is also preparing the premiere of the show
‘Wallâda’ with dancers Aida Gómez
and Igor Yebra for the 2004 Córdoba Guitar Festival,
and is moreover working on taking back up ‘Flamencuras’,
the show which he has already triumphed with in Germany.

Never before in the history of the International
Heel-Tapping Dance Festival had Spain or flamenco attended
in competition. Paco Mora will be the first bailaor to represent
one of the dance forms most characterized by its heel tapping
in the Colombian capital. From June 4th to 14th, 2004, he
will measure up against artists from ten other countries
in the world such as Mexico and Russia.
The Málaga-born bailaor is competing
in this contest with four choreographies: the rondeña
through bulerías ‘Latidos’, with music
by Cañadú; the seguiriya ‘Bordoneando’
with music by Carlos
Piñana; a martinete a bastón; and ‘Sosiego’
with music by Tomatito. Moreover, he will take advantage
of his attendance at the contest in Colombia to teach a
dance workshop and offer some performances. Due to the expectation
aroused by his attendance, he will arrive a few days earlier
to attend to the media.
Premiere of ‘Wallâda’
Paco Mora is on a roll this season. The
Málaga-born bailaor is preparing the show ‘Wallâda’
together with dancers Aida Gómez and Igor Yebra,
which will premiere at the 2004 Córdoba Guitar Festival
on July 15th, 2004. As the bailaor explains, “it's
a special assignment that narrates Córdoba's history,
based on the last princess of the Ommiad kingdom, with ballet,
contemporary and flamenco dancing and the support of projections”.
Moreover, he is accompanying España
Baila Flamenco (‘Spain Dances Flamenco’)
as a choreographer at many of the performances of the world
premiere of the show ‘The Power of the Feeling’,
such as Mexico City, Barcelona and Colombia; and Madrid's
Flamenco Ballet with the show ‘Carmen’. With
his own company, he is working on taking back up the show
‘Flamencuras’, which he has already triumphed
with in Germany, and on preparing his international tour
for the upcoming season.
