Pedro Ricardo Miño takes his dabblings with Indian music one step further. The Seville-born pianist works once again with an old friend, the master of the sitar Ravi Shankar. He's composed and recorded the track ‘Soleá’, included in the album ‘Rise’ by his daughter Anoushka Shankar - a 2006 Grammy nominee in the world music category. He's currently touring with the two of them, and will play several Indian cities during January, following their successful performances last November in New York. In the meantime, Pedro Ricardo Miño is currently preparing what will be his second solo album.

The piano por soleá you can hear on ‘Soleá’ from Anoushka Shankar's new album ‘Rise’, is performed and written by Pedro Ricardo Miño. According to the sitar player, “the luminous background sounds were all created on the piano. I'm holding the piano strings muted while he's playing one of the other background synth sounds. It was really creative and fun for me, and very physical, too, because of the rhythm, the flamenco approach”. The pianist has also played the tune ‘Prayer in passing’. Anoushka explains that “is just nice and dreamy - it's set in a morning raga that's very moody and simple. It was lovely to have so many different things that shouldn't go together but seemed to flow really nicely.” And the fact is that as well as the flamenco piano and Indian sitar, Pedro Eustache also plays bansuri flute and duduk.

The musician from Seville, son of bailaora Pepa Montes and guitarist Ricardo Miño, finally immortalizes the joint venture he's been developing for years with sitar ace Ravi Shankar, who he met years back on one of his U.S. tours. Now they're touring together. During January 2006 he'll play with Ravi and Anoushka Shankar in New Delhi (Friday 20th), Bangalore (Sunday 22nd) and Bombay (Wednesday 25th), as a follow-up to the concerts they already gave last November to New York audiences.
