He’d already alerted of it
since ‘Tierra de calma’. And he confirmed it
when he went on tour with Martirio. Coplas appeal to Miguel
Poveda. And in fact, he admits they were the
road which led him to flamenco. So much so, that he has
decided to make a record devoted exclusively to Spanish
song. On the double album ‘Coplas del querer’,
which comes out on June 2nd, 2009, he performs a selection
of eighteen of these emblematic songs from last century’s
folk culture, arranged by Joan Albert Amargós and
accompanied on guitar by Chicuelo.
The repertoire is highlighted by the zambra ‘A ciegas’
- which is part of the soundtrack of the film ‘Los
abrazos rotos’ by Pedro Almodóvar -, ‘Ojos
verdes’, ‘Mis tres puñales’ and
‘La bien pagá’, among others. The live
presentation is scheduled for June 9th and 10th, 2009 at
the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville. And the shows are already
sold out.
