Rocío Molina seeks the “distortion of technique” in her new show ‘Vinática’

Rocío Molina goes on a new adventure. Following ‘Cuando las piedras vuelen’ and as a consequence of the work-in-progress ‘Danzaora’, the bailaora premieres ‘Vinática’ on May 17th at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville. The show by this young artist, winner of the 2010 National Dance Prize, highlights the duality between order and chaos. And to do so, she sets her sights on Brueghel’s painting ‘The Tower of Babel’: “The contradiction of the right side (unfinished) being an integral part of the harmony displayed by the left side (finished, built), because they need one another to be complete”, the artist explains. So “working on the distortion of technique acquired over many years in order to be more aware of its style” is the challenge she tackles in this show, in which she relies on Italian Roberto Fratini as dramatic art consultant and shares the music directing with Rosario la Tremendita. The lineup includes Eduardo Trassierra on guitar and composing, José Ángel Carmona on cante, mandolin and electric bass and El Oruco on clapping and compás. The production will also be seen at Festival Suma Flamenca 2011 in Madrid, the Oviedo Dance Festival (June 23rd), the Córdoba Guitar Festival (July 10th), the Summer Courses of the UIMP in Santander (August 3rd) and at Le Parvis de Ibos-Tarbes in France (October 7th).
