Rome goes back to flamenco. The biennial Rome ¡Flamenco! Festival now has the dates and program for its fourth edition. From October 5th to 12th, 2011, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in the Italian capital offers a show schedule starring heavyweights of today’s flamenco. The prior inaugural concert will be handled by Paco de Lucía, “flamenco’s international ambassador”, at the Sala Santa Cecilia on September 28th. Then the thick of the festival will be concentrated at the Sala Petrassi from October 5th to 16th, with shows like ‘La curva’ by Israel Galván with pianist Sylvie Courvasier, ‘Paseo de Gracia’ by Vicente Amigo, ‘Las idas y las vueltas’ by Arcángel with Fahmi Alqhai and Accademia del Piacere, ‘Yerbabuena’ by Eva Yerbabuena, ‘Ensayo flamenco 2012’ by Carmen Linares, ‘Vamos al tiroteo’ by Rafaela Carrasco and ‘Sin muros’ by Dorantes. The flamenco trail will linger in the city, making room for itself at the Rome Jazz Festival 2011 where, on November 8th, flamenco guitarist Pepe Habichuela and jazz double bass player Dave Holland perform in the concert ‘Hands’.
