Flamenco returns to Madrid’s Sabatini Gardens

Flamenco-world.com, July 2006

Madrid’s cultural program in summer has a flamenco flavor. From July 25th to August 12th, the Sabatini Gardens, an outdoor spot next to the Royal Palace, once again plays host to a succulent flamenco festival. Cante, baile and toque split up the bill, which among other highlights, includes a face-off between José Mercé and Enrique de Melchor, an encounter between Lole Montoya and Alba Molina, and the presentation of Antonio Pitingo’s début album together with the Habichuela family.

José Menese, Gerardo Núñez, Blanca del Rey, Vicente Soto, Potito... shape up this festival included in Veranos de la Villa 2006. This extensive cultural program also takes flamenco to other venues in the Spanish capital, as is the case of Enrique Morente, Estrella Morente, and Michel Camilo & Tomatito at the Main Courtyard of Cuartel de Conde Duque, and the encounter between Jorge Pardo and Enrique de Melchor in the jazz series at the Sabatini Gardens.
